Maini on the money in Jack Cavill Pole Position Cup

Tom Gamble and Kush Maini scooped £150 and a trophy each for their pole positions at Rockingham, as part of the 2018 Jack Cavill Pole Position Cup.

Gamble's late effort in qualifying secured his first pole position of the year, setting a time that was just 0.015s quicker than Linus Lundqvist. Gamble capitalised on his pole to secure his first ever single seater race victory.

Maini meanwhile set the fastest race lap in either races one or two, and thus lined-up at the front for race three. Having won race two, he didn't quite manage to match his earlier result in the final race, but still claimed a podium with third place, and finishing just six tenths away from the race winner.

Hillspeed's Sasakorn Chaimongkol was the pole sitter for race two, taking home a trophy as a result.

Six different drivers have started races from pole position so far, with Clement Novalak, Nicolai Kjaergaard and Tristan Charpentier the other pole sitters in 2018.

There is a £3,400 prize fund for The Jack Cavill Pole Position Cup; £150 and a trophy for the pole position winner for races one and three each weekend, a trophy for the pole position starter for race two, plus £1,000 for the driver with the most poles.

The award is named after Jack Cavill, who played a vital supporting role in the early careers of several notable drivers from the 1960s onwards.

The prizes are presented at each round by Jack's effervescent son John, who has followed in his father's footsteps, and is an extremely popular member of the British F3 paddock amongst drivers and teams alike.
