The Lanan Pilbeam VdeV at Brands Hatch.

The team were pleased to have Simon Pullan back with them to replace the still injured Damien Charveriat for the VdeV UK round at Brands Hatch.

Qualifying proved to be a little disappointing given the recent testing form, with the car lining up 7th.

The car was thoroughly checked and a suspension irregularity was found, this was rectified and the team now felt confident that they could move forward.

Simon was put in to drive the first stint of the three-hour race.

During the first racing lap with all cars fighting for position, Simon’s Pilbeam suffered frontal damage, which included the splitter, which is so important for front downforce.

Simon battled on in 4th position hoping that with sympathetic driving they could finish the race.
After one hour running the car was becoming more and more difficult to drive and Simon pitted so that the team could assess the damage.

Team boss Graham Johnson “ We tried to repair the damage, as we have no spares with this being the only car, but it was never going to last”, …so the car was retired.
“Our time will come” said Graham..” the guys did a fantastic job and we will back fighting in Assen at the next round”
